Bio – Jodie Dill, BS, RN, RRT, EMT-P, CPAN After graduating from Quinnipiac College in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in respiratory care, I started my career at Hartford Hospital, Hartford, Connecticut. Initially I worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in the surgical and neurosurgical ICUs, then after two years, was hired aboard LIFE STAR, Connecticut’s Air Medical Transport Program. During the two years required to be considered for LIFE STAR, I obtained my EMT, followed by EMT-Intermediate. We cared for neonates to geriatrics, with just two crewmembers, focusing on trauma, cardiac, and medical patient populations. When we were not flying, we worked as respiratory therapists in the emergency department. I went on to obtain my paramedic certification in 2003. Soon after finishing my medic, wanting to take care of the “whole patient”, I pursued my nursing degree. I attended Jefferson College of Health Sciences in Roanoke, Virginia, a one-year program for current respiratory therapists, paramedics, or LPNs. After graduation, I headed back to the Hartford Hospital Emergency Department where I eventually functioned as a Clinical Nurse Leader in education for the night shift. After leaving the ED, I spent time in Interventional Radiology and the Cardiac ICU. 16 years later, I left Hartford Hospital, working in 2 smaller emergency departments and eventually the Emerson Hospital ICU. During that time, I was introduced to PACU nursing, as on the nightshift, we would recover the surgeries that took place overnight. Eventually I transitioned to the PACU and have been working there since 2020. Along with patient care, I assist with new hire education in our department, but also with the new grad residency program, CCU, endoscopy, and interventional radiology. I am BLS instructor, an ACLS instructor, and CPAN certified.
